Traditionally recognized each year on December 6th, this event remembers the 1989 slayings of 14 female engineering students in what has come to be known as the "Montreal Massacre". Across the country, people gather to "first mourn, then work for change". We remember all women who have lost their lives to violence and acknowledge the over 500 Aboriginal women who have been murdered or lost over the past 20 years.
